Jaylen Brown Out With Hyperextended Knee
4 months agoBoston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown (knee), who was reportedly inactive during the morning shootaround, will not play in Monday's Martin Luther King Jr. Day game against the Toronto Raptors. Dealing with a hyperextended right knee, Brown should be considered day-to-day ahead of his next chance to suit up on Wednesday versus the San Antonio Spurs. The 27-year-old two-time All-Star is heating up over his last five games, averaging 29.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.4 threes, and 2.2 assists in 32.7 minutes since Jan. 6. The Raptors have been forced to play smaller lineups with Jakob Poeltl (ankle) on the sidelines, so Sam Hauser might be a more likely replacement for Brown than Al Horford in Boston's starting five on Monday. Horford has been more productive as a starter this season, however, averaging 9.0 points, 7.7 boards, and 3.7 dimes across 14 games with the first unit.
