Jake Burger's Two Homers Not Enough In Loss
1 month agoMiami Marlins third baseman Jake Burger blasted two solo home runs on Thursday, but it wasn't enough as his squad fell 8-5 to the St. Louis Cardinals to remain winless. Burger led off the fourth inning with a 421-foot homer to deep left center to knot the game at 1-1 before going back-to-back with Josh Bell and belting another long ball during a three-run Miami fifth frame that got right-hander Lance Lynn out of the contest. After a 9-for-46 cold spell during spring training, the 27-year-old St. Louis native is enjoying a hot start to the regular season with a .355/.400/.581 triple-slash line, two big flies, 10 RBI, and six runs scored over his first 31 at-bats. Now hitting .310 with 11 homers, 38 RBI, and 33 runs scored in 61 career games for the Fish, Burger is quickly developing into one of fantasy's better four-category contributors at third base.
