Jackson Jobe 2024 Player Outlook: Healthy Return Encouraging In 2023
10 months agoDetroit Tigers pitching prospect Jackson Jobe injured his lower back in the spring of 2023 and was given a three-month timetable to return. Not only did he return to full health, he did so with authority. The right-hander breezed through Single-A ball with six starts of 2.25 ERA work with a dynamite 25% K-BB%. He moved to High-A Lakeland where he posted a 3.60 ERA alongside a massive 31.9% K-BB% in eight starts. He finished his 2023 regular season with six shutout innings in his lone outing with Double-A Erie. The 21-year-old wasn't done there, however, as he posted a 2.87 ERA with 19 strikeouts in 15 2/3 innings across four starts in the Arizona Fall League. The strong bounce-back from his early-season back ailment was not only encouraging but placed him among the elite pitching prospects in baseball. It would be surprising to see him make his MLB debut in 2024 but he could be a big-time asset as soon as the 2025 campaign.
