Gordon Hayward Practicing Again
7 months agoCharlotte Hornets head coach Steve Clifford said forward Gordon Hayward (foot) participated in Wednesday's scrimmage and drill work. Clifford hopes Hayward feels good on Thursday, referencing the wing's right foot soreness. Hayward returned to Monday's practice, putting him on track to play in Thursday's preseason finale versus the Boston Celtics. More importantly, the oft-injured 33-year-old is on course for Oct. 25's season opener. Hayward's contract is up next summer, rendering him a probable trade candidate come February's deadline on a Hornets team in transition. The former All-Star should provide some late-round fantasy value as a starter in the season's early goings, especially since Miles Bridges' (suspension) standing is back in flux. No. 2 overall pick Brandon Miller will be vying for minutes, though.
