Giants Place J.D. Davis On Waivers
2 months agoThe San Francisco Giants placed infielder/outfielder J.D. Davis on waivers on Saturday. The writing was on the wall for Davis, who can play first base, third base, and left field, to be let go as the odd man out following San Fran's Matt Chapman signing. A waiver claim is possible for Davis, who slashed a modest .248/.325/.413 with 18 home runs, 23 doubles, and 69 RBI across 546 trips to the plate for the Giants a year ago. The 30-year-old former New York Met could serve as a decent bench bat for teams in need of one that can produce against both right-handers and left-handers. Unless Davis lands somewhere that presents him with an everyday role, however, anything else is unlikely to be enough to get him on 2024 draft radars this spring.
