Giancarlo Stanton Breaks Out With Four Hits In Loss
8 months agoNew York Yankees designated hitter/outfielder Giancarlo Stanton went 4-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Thursday's 6-5 loss to the Washington Nationals. The 33-year-old needed a shot in the arm in a huge way on the heels of a dreadful 6-for-52 (.115) slump with just two extra-base hits in his previous 15 games. Stanton crushed an eighth-inning solo bomb to make it a one-run ballgame late. After Washington got an insurance run across, Stanton drove in one more during the ninth. It was his first outing of the year recording at least three knocks. The five-time All-Star remains a fringe hold in shallow leagues for his power prospects, but a woeful average and lack of speed significantly hinder the fantasy appeal. Stanton is now slashing .204/.285/.444 with 19 homers, 10 doubles, and 47 RBI in 312 trips to the dish this year.
