Esteury Ruiz Steals MLB-High 16th Base In Road Victory
1 year agoOakland Athletics outfielder Esteury Ruiz went 1-for-5 with two RBI and his MLB-leading 16th stolen base during the team's victory in Kansas City. The 24-year-old was acquired by Oakland from Milwaukee last December as part of a three-team trade which sent away Sean Murphy. Murphy may be having an MVP-caliber start in Atlanta, but the rebuilding A's still have to be pleased with what Ruiz is bringing to the table. He's served as their everyday leadoff man since April 16, hitting a solid .273 on the campaign as a whole. The rangy center fielder's fantasy upside will be limited by a lack of pop (0 homers in 2023) in a weak Athletics lineup, but he should be owned in most fantasy formats for his base-stealing prowess.
