Dennis Smith Jr. 2018-19 Player Outlook
6 years agoDallas Mavericks point guard Dennis Smith Jr. had a promising rookie campaign, getting 15.2 points and 5.2 assists per game, but he also could've done a lot better. He excited fans with his electric playing style and explosive dunks, and at 20 years, 34 days, he even became the third-youngest player in NBA history to have a triple-double, but he also frustrated fantasy owners with his poor shooting. Smith Jr. ended up nailing only 39.5 percent of his shots and even struggled from the charity stripe (69.4 percent). Throughout the season, he only had three months in which he managed to make at least 40 percent of his shots. Hopefully he's improved his shooting over the summer, otherwise, things could get tough in Dallas after the Mavs drafted Luka Doncic, who's been the best point guard in Europe over the last couple of years despite his young age. Before drafting Smith Jr., make sure you check out how he shot in preseason games.
