Cody Bellinger Adds Two Homers To Resurgence In Win
8 months agoChicago Cubs first baseman/outfielder Cody Bellinger went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Kansas City Royals. The 28-year-old went the other way twice in this one, first bopping a two-run homer to the opposite field in the first inning. The lefty-hitting Bellinger then banged another HR to deep left center in the third frame. He also hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Chicago's sixth and final run of the game. Bellinger's long-awaited career renaissance has been on full display during the season's second half. In 42 games since June 30, the former NL MVP is hitting a white-hot .391 (63-for-161) with 11 long balls, 37 RBI, and seven stolen bases to spearhead on MVP-caliber campaign overall.
