Angels Could Be Open To Trading Mike Trout
8 months agoUSA Today's Bob Nightengale hears that "the Los Angeles Angels, perhaps for the first time, are open to trading All-Star outfielder Mike Trout (wrist) if he indicates to them that he wants out". Nightengale also reports that "Trout wants to have a private conversation with the front office and ownership about their direction". While it remains to be see if the Angels can retain impending free agent Shohei Ohtani this winter, they may be willing to explore what the trade market has to offer for their oft-injured 32-year-old superstar. But as Nightengale also notes, Trout owns a full no-trade clause and wouldn't land the Angels the same compensation he may have once demanded since he will have missed 249 games in the last three years if he remains out for 2023. The three-time MVP still holds seven years left on his deal, so he may turn out to be a tough sell despite slashing .283/.382/.579 with 66 home runs, 59 doubles, 142 RBI, and 162 runs scored in 237 games since 2021.
