Adam Ottavino Attains First Save Since Late May
10 months agoNew York Mets relief pitcher Adam Ottavino hurled a scoreless ninth inning to close out Saturday's 4-1 win versus the San Francisco Giants. The 37-year-old got J.D. Davis to ground out and lent a Patrick Bailey walk before inducing a Thairo Estrada double play to shut the door. Ottavino secured his sixth save of the season and first since May 26 in this one. The right-hander owns a middling 4.01 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and 35:15 K:BB across 33 2/3 frames this year. Ottavino may see the occasional save chance, but David Robertson remains the favorite for closing scenarios in Queens.
