NFL Draft Day 2 Winners/Losers - Instant Reaction

On Friday night, the 2019 NFL Draft resumed after a wild first round on Thursday night. We have already gone through the winners and losers from Round 1, and it's time to move on to the winners and losers from Day 2.

After a day with relatively few defensive backs getting drafted, things changed rapidly on the second day. Four of the first 10 picks in the second round were cornerbacks.

At RotoBaller, we're here to take the world of football and extrapolate it to the fantasy football world for you. While there were a number of defensive players taken, that's not what we are here for. Let's look at the fantasy point-scorers to see who is going to help you win your league for this year and years to come.

Editor's Note: Our incredible team of writers won two writing awards and received 12 award nominations by the Fantasy Sports Writers Association. A big congrats to our very own Byron Lindeque (Golf) and Jordan McAbee (NASCAR) for both winning Writer Of The Year awards! Be sure to follow RotoBaller's analysis and advice all year long, and win more. Win More With RotoBaller!

NFL Draft Day 2: Winners

Leonard Fournette - Jacksonville Jaguars RB

After two picks went off the board, the Jaguars traded up to draft a falling prospect in Jawaan Taylor. Taylor was considered by some to be the top offensive tackle on the board. With the number of injuries that Fournette has dealt with since he entered the NFL, he's going to love having a powerful and athletic tackle to plow yardage open for him. As long as Fournette is sticking around with the Jaguars, his value should see a rise this season. I'd be buying shares of Fournette if I could.

Jimmy Garoppolo - San Francisco 49ers QB

Garoppolo got into just the third game of the season last year before he went down with a torn ACL. He had just one proven pass catcher on the roster in the form of tight end George Kittle. After the second day of the draft, he has two more of them in Deebo Samuel and Jalen Hurd. This San Francisco offense is going to be one of the hottest in the NFL this season, and it's going to lead to a booming year for Garoppolo if he stays healthy.

D.K. Metcalf - Seattle Seahawks WR

Metcalf was viewed as the top wide receiver by a number of draft analysts. Many expected him to be the first wide receiver off the board after his mind-blowing combine numbers. Instead, he was the ninth WR off the board, barely making it as a second-rounder with the 64th pick. Fortunately, he landed with a team that loves to throw the ball deep. Pete Carroll will also know how to maximize his talents while avoiding his weaknesses. Metcalf wasn't drafted as a WR1, but he should be a stud in this Seattle offense anyway.

Cam Newton's Health - Carolina Panthers QB

Newton has been beaten and battered over the past few seasons. The team has had a rotating door on the offensive line. They traded up to grab the top offensive tackle on their board in Greg Little. Little is athletic with a ton of size, and he just has to achieve his potential to become the next great NFL tackle. If he can do that, Newton may not be getting knocked around every other play. Don't sweat their later selection of Will Grier - he isn't slate to replace Superman any time soon.

Jace Sternberger - Green Bay Packers TE

The Packers have been searching for a consistent presence at the tight end position for several years. After the letdown that Jimmy Graham has been, Sternberger has the potential to be that guy. He has great athleticism, and he made big plays happen on a frequent basis. As long as he continues his breakout, he'll be an elite tight end sooner rather than later.

NFL Draft Day 2: Losers

Joe Flacco - Denver Broncos QB

Missouri quarterback Drew Lock lasted until the middle of the second round. Eventually, he ended up with the Broncos, and the writing is on the wall for Flacco. Whenever an aging veteran struggles, fans are immediately clamoring for the young rookie to get on the field. If Flacco struggles at all this season, there is no telling how short his leash is going to be.

Kyle Rudolph - Minnesota Vikings TE

Rudolph has been a tantalizing fantasy option for many years. However, he's never been able to put together a truly elite fantasy season. With the team's stud wide receivers already in place, touches were limited. Now, there is a talented rookie tight end in the mix in Alabama's Irv Smith Jr. The future is Smith, and Rudolph's present value took a big hit.

Rex Burkhead - New England Patriots RB

Burkhead had a good amount of fantasy value when he first arrived in New England. Last season, due to injuries, that didn't hold as true. With running back Damien Harris now in the fold, he falls even further down in the rotation. They put their guys in a position to succeed, but I'm not sure what position that will be for him.

Josh Doctson - Washington Redskins WR

Doctson had a ton of potential coming out of TCU, but he has never capitalized on it. He has fallen out of favor as nothing more than an occasional big-play threat, and they added Terry McLaurin on the second day of the draft to help fill that role. McLaurin also has chemistry established with the team's first-round pick quarterback Dwayne Haskins. McLaurin has effectively sealed his fate.

Nelson Agholor - Philadelphia Eagles WR

Agholor has put up two decent seasons, but he has been extremely inconsistent. He's also never established amazing chemistry with the team's quarterback, Carson Wentz. Heading into a contract year, he needed a big season. The Eagles showed how they felt about him by drafting Stanford wide receiver J.J. Arcega-Whiteside. He's big, and he presents a great red zone threat. Agholor may be playing his final snaps in a crowded Eagles' offense.
