Lonnie Walker 2018-2019 Player Outlook
6 years agoWhile the Spurs drafted guard Lonnie Walker this year to presumably pair him with point guard Dejounte Murray as the team's backcourt of the future, things often change in the NBA, and the trade that brought guard DeMar DeRozan to the Spurs has thrown a wrench into Walker's outlook for his rookie season. An athletic player who can finish at the rim and projects to be a solid defender, Walker should be useful down the line for the Spurs, but his rookie season is likely to feature a lot of G-League minutes, where consistent playing time would be more useful than a role as the third shooting guard on the Spurs main team. Walker's dynasty value remains strong -- there's no guarantee that DeRozan ends up as the long-term answer in San Antonio -- but he's unlikely to have an impact as a rookie.
