Michael Wacha Expected Out Through July
10 months agoSan Diego Padres starting pitcher Michael Wacha (shoulder) is playing catch and throwing off flat ground, but still isn't able to do mound work. The 32-year-old is unlikely to return before the end of July at this juncture, per manager Bob Melvin. Wacha required an injured-list stint on July 4 with right shoulder inflammation and it looks as though he'll end up missing at least a month of action. The right-hander's 2022 resurgence has carried over into 2023, yielding a 2.84 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 73:25 K:BB in 85 2/3 innings covering 15 starts. Wacha should still be kept stashed in the majority of competitive fantasy leagues.
