Gregory Soto Slams Door On Rockies For First Save
1 year agoPhiladelphia Phillies relief pitcher Gregory Soto recorded his first save of the season in closing the team's triumph over the Colorado Rockies on Saturday. The 28-year-old now owns a 4.00 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with 21 strikeouts this year. The southpaw appears to be in line to share ninth-inning duties with righty Craig Kimbrel, who worked three straight days before Saturday, depending on matchups while Jose Alvarado is sidelined. Soto checks a ton of positive boxes on Statcast with perhaps the most notable one being an 84.4% average exit velocity allowed. The two-time all-star should be added off waivers for saves-needy fantasy rosters with a potential uptick in save chances forthcoming in the interim. He saved 30 games for the Detroit Tigers last season.
