3/18:If the Pittsburgh Pirates named their fifth starter based solely on spring performance, Steven Brault would likely be the man. The left-hander turned in another solid outing on Sunday, pitching four innings of no-run, one-hit baseball. He struck out one and walked only one. For the spring, Brault now holds a 1.69 ERA with four strikeouts and two walks in 10 2/3 innings, outperforming the erratic Tyler Glasnow and Joe Musgrove, who has thrown in only one official game due to shoulder discomfort. Brault will be someone to keep an eye on if he wins the starting spot, but he won't be a must-add commodity, as his stuff is fairly average and his upside is limited. As his spring numbers indicate, the 25-year-old has demonstrated good command in the minors (7.4 percent walk rate), but his strikeout numbers are merely average (22.0 percent).--Matt Wilkes - RotoBaller
