Shaedon Sharpe Plays Eight Minutes Before Aggravating Groin
5 months agoPortland Trail Blazers guard Shaedon Sharpe (groin) brought in one rebound and missed his lone field-goal attempt over eight minutes of action before his night ended in Tuesday's game against the Phoenix Suns with right-groin soreness. Sharpe was listed as questionable coming into the contest with the same injury. Head coach Chauncey Billups said before the game that Sharpe has been dealing with the issue for some time and that he was being closely monitored. The second-year swingman is handling 35.0 minutes per game this season, so it's fair to wonder if the workload is beginning to affect his health. After scoring at least 23 points with three triples in each of his five games from Nov. 30 to Dec. 11, Sharpe is shooting just 23.2% (7-for-30) over the last four nights. Should he miss Thursday's game versus the Washington Wizards, it would mean more minutes for Malcolm Brogdon and Scoot Henderson.
