Mark Vientos Begins Rehab Assignment On Friday
9 months agoNew York Mets infielder Mark Vientos (wrist) started a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse on Friday. The 23-year-old is completely healed from the injection he received when he originally went on the 10-day injured list last Thursday. Therefore, Vientos appears to be just a few days out from a return to the big-league lineup and is eligible to be activated as early as Saturday. With Luis Guillorme (calf) still on the IL and Brett Baty in the minors, Vientos should see plenty of playing time at third base as well as designated hitter in the season's late stages. The rookie has endured a tough go of it, though, hitting a trifling .195 (23-for-118) with a .518 OPS, two home runs, five doubles, and 10 RBI this season.
