Recent Update

5/3:Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim relief pitcher Blake Parker threw two-thirds of an inning on Tuesday, striking out one. He now has a 2.19 ERA on the season and has not given up an earned run since April 16. Most importantly, he has a ridiculous 21 strikeouts in only 12 1/3 innings, good for a 15.32 K/9. While reliever Bud Norris has received all the save opportunities thus far in the absence of closer Cam Bedrosian, Parker has arguably been the better pitcher. If he continues to rack up strikeouts at this torrid pace, he will be valuable in holds leagues as well as formats that favor K/9. However, the impending return of both reliever Andrew Bailey and Bedrosian will likely keep Parker out of the ninth inning. Unless he gets the ninth-inning role, he should be left alone in most formats.--Andy P - RotoBaller
