George Springer Fends Off Skid For Four-Hit Display
9 months agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer went 4-for-4 with two runs scored, one stolen base, and one walk in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Boston Red Sox. The 33-year-old poked four singles in this one, swiping third base to help catalyze a three-run third inning for the Jays. Springer then scored a ninth-inning insurance run in a game where Reese McGuire committed a base-running gaffe to end the contest. Springer carried a frigid 5-for-61 cold spell from July 18 into this one, so perhaps the four-hit attack supplies a much-needed shot in the arm for him. The four-time All-Star remains on pace for arguably his worst season yet, slashing a mediocre .253/.324/.385 with 13 home runs, 43 RBI, and 14 stolen bases covering 423 at-bats.
