Jalen Duren Out For First Time This Year
7 months agoDetroit Pistons forward/center Jalen Duren (ankle) has been downgraded to out and will miss his first game of the season on Wednesday versus the Portland Trail Blazers. Duren has a left ankle sprain, although it's unclear when he picked up the injury. The 19-year-old 2022 first-rounder didn't participate in Wednesday morning's shootaround, which ultimately served as the writing on the wall for his absence in this one. Duren is off to a dominant start as Detroit's featured big man, averaging 15.3 points, 13.3 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks in four contests. Note that Wednesday's matchup is the first end of a back-to-back for the Pistons, so they could be playing things cautiously with their franchise center. Isaiah Stewart could shift to the five against Portland, with Marvin Bagley III embracing an expanded role in Duren's stead. James Wiseman could enter head coach Monty Williams' rotation, too.
