Five Outfield Sleepers: Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 16

Joe Hannon analyzes the top 5 outfield waiver wire sleepers for week 16. These fantasy baseball hitters can provide a big spark and should potentially be owned.

Looking for a spark heading into the All-Star break? Here are five sleepers whose fantasy value is on the rise. Whether the league is shallow, deep, AL-Only or NL-Only, this list of outfielders covers the entire fantasy spectrum.

David Peralta - (OF), Arizona Diamondbacks - 10% Owned

BALLER MOVE: Add in Very Deep Leagues

With consistent playing time in left field for the Diamondbacks, David Peralta has shown a knack for driving in runs. Peralta is hitting .325 with 18 R, 3 HR, 16 RBI and 2 SB in just 34 games this season.  The 26-year-old made his MLB debut on June 1st, and he has been one of the Diamondbacks most consistent players since his promotion from Double-A. Peralta is still unproven, but with multiple hits in five of his last nine starts, David is quickly emerging as a fantasy option in the outfield. Owners in NL-Only Leagues will definitely want to grab Peralta if he is still available.

Lorenzo Cain - (OF), Kansas City Royals - 33% Owned

BALLER MOVE: Add in All Formats

In his last six games, Lorenzo Cain has produced 12 hits. The Kansas City center fielder has also collected 4 R, 2 RBI and 5 SB over that stretch. Cain does not provide much in the way of power, but his high batting average and recent success on the base paths make him valuable in all fantasy formats.

Lorenzo is hitting .324 on the season with 27 R, 3 HR, 37 RBI and 12 SB. With five steals in his last seven games, Cain is an excellent fantasy option for owners in need of a base-stealer.

B.J. Upton - (OF), Atlanta Braves - 44% Owned

BALLER MOVE: Add in All Formats

In most cases, a .217 batting average doesn't make for a strong fantasy option in the outfield. B.J. Upton is an exception to the rule. Upton has showed new life since being given a chance to lead off for the Braves. He has hit safely in 14 of his last 15 games while producing 11 R, 1 HR, 5 RBI and 4 SB.

Fantasy owners will be taking a chance by adding Upton off of the waiver wire, but the potential for production across the board is certainly there. Just make sure to keep him on a short leash.

Ben Revere - (OF), Philadelphia Phillies - 85% Owned

BALLER MOVE: Add in All Formats

Despite being broadly owned in most fantasy formats, there are still some standard leagues in which Ben Revere is available. Currently fourth in the league with 26 stolen bases, Revere is the most consistent base-stealer on the waiver wire. Ben has 14 hits and three stolen bases over his last ten games. His complete lack of power will scare some owners away, but those looking for speed or batting average could benefit from slotting him into the lineup.

Chris Colabello - (OF), Minnesota Twins - 6% Owned

BALLER MOVE: Add in Deeper Leagues, AL-Only Leagues

Chris Colabello and his all-or-nothing approach are back in Minnesota. Colabello stormed out of the gates this season with 27 RBI in the month of April before cooling off considerably in May. After spending all of June at Triple-A Rochester, Chris was recalled by the Twins on July 2nd. Chris seems to have found his swing again, belting two home runs and driving in six runs in six games since returning to the big club. Colabello is an excellent source of power, especially for fantasy owners playing in AL-Only formats.
