About Displaced Tigers Fan

For the majority of my life, I've been a Detroit Tigers fan surrounded by other Detroit Tigers fans. A few years ago, I moved from the Great Mitten State to central Illinois. Obviously, Tigers fans are few and far between here. In addition to writing for RotoBaller, I write on the blog Musings of a Displaced Tigers Fan. You can also find me on Bless You Boys frequently over the course of the season. Thanks for reading. I love talking about baseball, so I hope you'll join in the conversation.

He has also homered in two consecutive games. The production couldn't come at a better time for the Tigers or for fantasy owners coming down the home stretch. Cabrera now has... Read More

The power production continued for sluggers Miguel Cabrera and Justin Upton last night, who each hit a three-run homer in a lopsided victory over Kansas City. Cabrera's dinger raised his season total to 35 and pushed him over the 100 RBI mark for the year. Meanwhile, Upton's homer put him at 29 on the season,... Read More

Justin Verlander is back in the Cy Young conversation in 2016. With yet another masterful performance last night, Verlander extended his lead in the AL strikeout race. His 12 K's against the Royals brought him to 246 on the year. He's also in the top three in terms of ERA, WHIP, IP, and AVG against.... Read More

Justin Verlander is in the midst of a remarkable season in which he has pitched to a 3.21 ERA and a lofty 234 K. Tonight he brings his powerful arsenal to face Cleveland, against whom he has pitched well throughout his career. Current Cleveland hitters are just .252 against Verlander lifetime. However, it's been a... Read More

With last night's two-hit performance that included a home run, Tiger OF J. D. Martinez has continued to solidify his status as an absolute keeper heading into next year's fantasy baseball season. After suffering a fluke injury and spending a significant amount of time on the DL, Martinez cam back without missing a beat. He... Read More

Victor Martinez tried his best to give the Tigers a shot to win yesterday, belting a grand slam in the third inning against Edinson Volquez. Ultimately, however, it wasn't enough to propel the Tigers past the Royals. Despite the poor outcome, it was just another productive day at the plate for V-Mart, who has been... Read More

Depending on the day, Justin Verlander or Corey Kluber leads the American League in strikeouts. With last night's 11 K performance against the Twins, Verlander took a ten-strikeout lead in the American League. Verlander's dynamite second half in 2015 set the stage for this season, but few analysts believed going into 2016 that Verlander would... Read More

Miguel Cabrera led the Tigers to victory last night with a two hit, two RBI, two runs scored performance. Miguel added an exclamation mark to his night with a home run in the seventh inning, his 34th of the year. While some analysts were concerned about Cabrera early in the season, Miggy has steadily silenced... Read More

Tiger 3B Nick Castellanos has been on the DL since breaking a bone in his hand on August 6. Initially, some believed Castellanos could return in a month, but it's been a slower process than that. But Castellanos was sent to Florida a few days ago to take swings against live pitching, and he says... Read More

Justin Upton's second half power surge continued over the weekend for the Tigers as he collected three home runs in three games against Cleveland. Upton started the weekend with a two-homer performance which also saw him amass 4 RBI. He then capped off the weekend with another HR, this time a two-run shot off Trevor... Read More

The Tigers needed a big start out of Justin Verlander against division-leading Cleveland yesterday, and that's exactly what they got. Unfortunately for the Tigers and for JV, the fantastic start wasn't rewarded with a win. Verlander threw seven innings of scoreless, one-run ball against the Indians while striking out seven batters. Verlander's season ERA is... Read More

Rookie sensation Michael Fulmer has been dynamite all season long. No need to harp on that point -- his 2.76 ERA and 117 K speak for themselves. But despite his sensational season, the ROY contender is up against a challenge today in the Cleveland Indians. Cleveland hitters have a combined .327 AVG against Fulmer, and... Read More

Tiger leadoff man Ian Kinsler had a productive night at the dish last night against the Twins, notching four hits, three RBI, and two runs scored as the Tigers beat Minnesota. Kinsler's .282 AVG on the year is a bit lower than in recent years, but he has managed to hit 26 HR (his highest... Read More

As far as consistent big league hitters go, not many have been better over the years than Victor Martinez. A career .301 hitter, Martinez never stays in a slump too long. After hitting a measly .193 in his last 15 games, Martinez has turned it on in the past week. V-Mart has collected 9 hits... Read More
