Worth the FanDuel Investment

Jordan Clarkson (LAL, G) - $7,700

Jordan Clarkson has pretty much supplanted Jeremy Lin at the point guard position in Los Angeles. Clarkson has become a rather reliable and productive fantasy force, averaging 21.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, 6.4 assists, and 1.1 steals in his last seven games. The entire Lakers roster has had some hot spurts as fantasy commodities, and this is officially Clarkson’s turn. With Lin missing time due to illness, injury, and poor performance, Clarkson has emerged as the Laker to roster in fantasy. Clarkson is doing everything on the court, as the Lakers’ rotation seems to be completely up in the air outside of him. That means you can’t expect Clarkson to be a cheap or worthwhile fantasy play for the remainder of the season, but you can still try to jump on his stock right now. Clarkson has been relied upon to play heavy minutes and has taken at least 14 shots in six of his last seven games.

Honorable Mentions: George Hill (Ind, G), J.J. Redick (LAC, G)

Trevor Ariza (Hou, F) - $6,800

Trevor Ariza may not be the sexiest pick on FanDuel, but he absolutely gets the job done at his moderate price. Ariza is a great roster pick for when you just need one or two more players at a relatively cheap price to fill out your lineup. His performance is steady and efficient, and has even received a slight uptick since the injury to Patrick Beverly. Ariza is now relied upon for even more three point shots, and hopefully the return of Dwight Howard will only help Houston’s spacing, giving Ariza better opportunities to produce. In his last eight games, Ariza has averaged 15.5 points. 7.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 2.1 steals. Ariza’s great value allows him to slot into many fantasy lineups no matter how heavily you choose to invest in the different positions, and his success rate has been proven by his high usage rate in lineups that have won fantasy nights on FanDuel. Continue to seek out Ariza as that missing cog you need on your roster.

Honorable Mention: Nerlens Noel (Phi, F)

Enes Kanter (OKC, C) - $7,700

Enes Kanter pretty much embodies the ideal fantasy player. His rather low value at the beginning of the year made his investment price a notch lower than the better centers in the league. He is terrible defensively, and doesn’t help his team at all on that end of the floor. However, his numbers look absolutely great at this point of the year, no matter how empty they may be. The Thunder, however, may as well let Kanter go on with his ways simply because having Westbrook and Kanter attempt to outgun opponents may be a more efficient method than trying to win games with scores below 100. Without the presence of Serge Ibaka, Kanter is getting more opportunites as the best offensive front court player on the team. In his last seven games, Kanter has averaged 21.6 points and 13.0 rebounds. He may not provide much in the blocks and steals categories, but his prowess on the boards and in the post has made him a surprising fantasy commodity at this point in the season. Kanter now has 11 straight double-doubles in games that he has played in and should continue to be relied upon heavily.

Honorable Mention: DeAndre Jordan (LAC, C)

DFS Sleeper Picks

Ish Smith (PHI, G) - $6,400

Ish Smith is on the Sixers now. I think. Yeah good, okay. Smith stepped into the point guard rule and ran with it. Many expected Isaiah Canaan to take the role once he was traded to Philadelphia. However, Smith has emerged as the better player, as he has shown an ability to play hard defensively, score, and get his teammates involved with plenty of assists. Nerlens Noel even went as far as complimenting Smith’s ability to play within his position, and his positive effect on the court has allowed Noel to take his game to new levels. Smith should be a great play on Sunday against the New York Knicks, as their lack of an interior defensive game can’t really be understated and Noel should attract plenty of attention. This would allow Smith to continue his great play. In his last eight games, Smith has averaged 14.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 1.6 steals. Smith would be an ideal pick at the second point guard slot.

Honorable Mention: Anthony Morrow (OKC, G)
