News and Player Outlook

10/7:Due to nagging injuries throughout most of 2016, Jose Bautista had a very underwhelming season. Fortunately for Jays’ fans (and fantasy owners involved in any kind of playoff leagues), Bautista seems to have put those struggles far, far behind him. In Game One of the NLDS against the Rangers, Bautista was absolutely scorching by finishing 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored, four RBI and a walk. The homer was a no-doubter three-run shot in the ninth inning that put the Jays up 10-0. If he’s going to finally catch fire, the Jays figure to be a very scary team for any opponent in the postseason.--Andrew Bua - RotoBaller

  • @Wilnerness590: Atkins: No reason to believe that Bautista can't be an effective outfielder for the foreseeable future. #Bluejays #Jays
  • @BKennedyStar: Atkins said he doesn't yet have budget for 2017, but he expects to have "enough information" by end of WS to negotiate w/ Bautista & EE.
  • @Wilnerness590: Atkins: I would expect that Bautista is motivated to return, based on everything he's told us. #Bluejays #Jays
  • @BKennedyStar: Ross Atkins stated obvious by saying Jays expect to make qualifying offers to EE & Bautista. On Saunders it's "not quite as clear," he said.
  • @gregorMLB: Gibbons also essentially confirmed Grilli's option will be picked up. Bautista/EE to receive qualifying offers. #BlueJays
  • @gregorMLB: ICYMI, if this was the end of Bautista and Encarnacion with #BlueJays, they sure left a mark:

  • @BKennedyStar: From Bautista vs. Merritt to Miller vs. Donaldson, 5 ways Game 5 unraveled for the Jays:
  • @gregorMLB: If this really was the end of Bautista and Encarnacion in Toronto, they sure left their mark: #BlueJays
  • @BKennedyStar: It's no bat flip homer, but if that's the end it's not too shabby. Bautista works the count full and drives a lead-off double to left field.
  • @Wilnerness590: With the crowd screaming, Bautista lines a 3-2 pitch into the LF corner for a leadoff double in bot9. Tying run on deck. #Bluejays #Jays
  • @Wilnerness590: Absolute moron runs out onto the field as Bautista comes to the plate. Idiocy.
  • @gregorMLB: Seriously? The dude picks Bautista's AB as the time to run onto the field. Give me a break.
  • @BKennedyStar: Cody Allen in for Cleveland with a 3-0 lead in the 9th. Jays on the ropes. Jose Bautista, Josh Donaldson and Edwin Encarnacion due up.
  • @Wilnerness590: Osuna strands the leadoff double, and now it's Bautista, Donaldson, Encarnacion v Allen for the season. #Bluejays down 3-0 bot9. #Jays #ALCS
  • @gregorMLB: Bautista and Encarnacion are due up in the ninth. It's quite possible these will be their final ABs with the #BlueJays
  • @Wilnerness590: Bautista singles up the middle with 1out, bot6 and Francona goes to Andrew Miller. Donaldson up, #Bluejays down 3-0. #Jays #ALCS
  • @BKennedyStar: Jose Bautista, in what may be his final game as a Blue Jay, singles up the middle. ... And here comes the Angel of Death.
  • @BKennedyStar: Estrada pops up Ramirez to end a scoreless 6th. Barney-Bautista-Donaldson due up with the Jays down by 3 with 9 outs to go.
  • @Wilnerness590: Bautista falls behind 0-2 (2nd pitch a swing and miss on a great 69mph curve), grounds out to 3B to begin bot1. #Bluejays #Jays #ALCS
  • @Wilnerness590: Bautista and Donaldson.
  • @BKennedyStar: RT @bnicholsonsmith: Donaldson & Bautista hit LH homers in BP today. Bautista: "We had fun with it." Perhaps a physical advantage, too? htt…
