Daily Pitcher Matchup Ratings Tool Top Plays
Stephen Strasburg (WAS) @ MIA
FanDuel - $11,300 / DraftKings - $11,000
Strasburg gets the top rated matchup of the day and is also the highest priced pitcher on the slate. He will pitch in a pitcher-friendly park in Miami and take on an average Marlins lineup. With his strikeout upside, Strasburg needs to be seriously considered for cash game lineups.
Carlos Carrasco (CLE) vs. SEA
FanDuel - $10,200 / DraftKings $10,200
Carrasco gets the second-best matchup on the slate according to the matchup tool. He is coming off an excellent outing where he held the Royals to one run over eight innings, striking out eight. The Mariners have the ninth-highest strikeout rate in the league against right-handed pitchers at 23.2%. Carrasco is quickly solidifying himself as an ace and should be treated as such in fantasy.
Matt’s Value Plays of the Day
Matt Shoemaker (LAA) @ CWS
FanDuel - $8,400 / DraftKings - $5,300
There's an interesting pricing discrepancy between the two daily sites here, making Shoemaker an excellent value on DK while he's best avoided on FD for today's slate. Shoemaker will face off against a White Sox offense that has been ice cold and the right-hander is coming off a fantastic start where he held the A's scoreless over six innings.
Ervin Santana (MIN) vs. MIL
FanDuel - $6,900 / DraftKings - $8,000
Santana has been excellent to begin the year, posting a 1.75 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 15 innings of work. He should be able to improve upon those strikeout numbers against a Brewers team that has the sixth-highest strikeout rate in the league when facing right-handed pitching.
Starting Pitchers to Fade in Daily Fantasy Baseball
Vince Velasquez (PHI) vs. NYM
FanDuel - $9,000 / DraftKings $9,600
Velasquez's price sky-rocketed after he dominated the Padres in his last start and he's sure to be a popular play today. He will be facing the Mets for a second time this season, this time in hitter-friendly Citizens Bank Park. The Mets have started to heat up at the plate, touching up Corey Kluber for six runs on Sunday.
Jason Hammel (CHC) @ STL
FanDuel - $8,000 / DraftKings - $7,800
Hammel will take on a Cardinals offense that is dangerous against right-handed pitching. He has just nine strikeouts in 12 innings of work this season and St. Louis is one of the toughest teams for right-handed pitchers to strike out. There just isn't a whole lot of upside in using Hammel today.
