Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 8:
Tony Pollard, RB, Titans
After a 31-13 loss to the Patriots, in which the team had only 12 rushing attempts, Tennessee Titans OC Nick Holz told reporters, "You want to be able to run the ball a little more." Six of the team's carries went to Tony Pollard, who converted them into only 18 yards but salvaged his fantasy day with six catches for an additional 43 yards.
Unfortunately, the Titans are unlikely to experience a sudden influx of positive game scripts. Through seven weeks, they've run a total of 11 offensive plays while holding a lead. Pollard can still be started because of his reliable work in the passing game, but playing mostly from behind, along with a slowly increasing workload from Tyjae Spears, is not a recipe for a second-half fantasy boon.
Chimere Dike, WR, Titans
Tennessee Titans rookie wide receiver Chimere Dike had his best game as a pass catcher in Week 7 against New England, catching all four of his targets for 70 yards and his first touchdown as a pro. Dike now has at least two receptions in three straight games and continues to make an impact on special teams, leading the league in kick return yards.
With veteran Calvin Ridley (hamstring) sidelined in Week 7, Dike ran a season-high 66.7% of the team's routes and hauled in a 38-yard touchdown pass from fellow rookie Cameron Ward. Dike is a solid speculative add as the Titans go on the road to Indianapolis in Week 8.
Kareem Hunt, RB, Chiefs
Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt (knee) will not practice Thursday following a bone bruise on his knee suffered against the Raiders in Week 7. The Chiefs currently rank in the middle of the pack with 123.4 rushing yards per game, as they operate a committee featuring Isiah Pacheco, Hunt, and rookie Brashard Smith.
Hunt has seen 53 carries through seven games, tallying 205 yards and three touchdowns. Hunt's potential absence could be the opportunity Smith has been looking for to increase his workload. The elusive back should see extensive work in the passing game as a change-of-pace option heading into a Week 8 matchup with a Commanders defense allowing 126 rushing yards per game.
Keon Coleman, WR, Bills
Since Buffalo Bills second-year wide receiver Keon Coleman had an eight-catch, 112-yard, one-touchdown performance in the season opener against the Baltimore Ravens, he has 16 catches for 125 yards and one touchdown on 24 targets in five games.
He was benched at the start of the Week 5 loss to the New England Patriots for disciplinary reasons and has seven grabs for only 34 yards and a touchdown in the last two games. During the bye last week, Coleman tweeted "Say Less" with a handshake emoji, but deleted it almost immediately.
It's unclear what exactly the 22-year-old meant by it, but fantasy managers are just wondering if he'll be able to turn it around in Week 8 against the Carolina Panthers. Coleman hasn't shown much chemistry with quarterback Josh Allen, and it wasn't a good sign that he couldn't make an impact in Week 6 with tight end Dalton Kincaid and receiver Curtis Samuel out due to injuries.
Maybe the Bills will force the issue with Coleman coming out of their bye, but it's hard to recommend him as a flex play against a Carolina defense that has been stingy against opposing receivers in terms of fantasy points this year.
