We're heading into the 10th week of NFL action and also into what's going to the most difficult week of the year for many fantasy owners, as we have six teams on a bye in Week 10, the most bye weeks of any week this year. If you're starting players like DeAndre Hopkins, D.J. Chark, Courtland Sutton, Julian Edelman, or anyone else on those teams or on Washington or Philadelphia, you're going to have to figure some things out.
Some of those things, depending on your roster construction, might involve you needing to start someone off the waiver wire. Not an ideal scenario, but it could be something you're forced to do based on what all you have on your roster.
Not all options are the same. Some players may be better in PPR or deeper leagues, so it’s not a one-size-fits-all comparison. WR Waiver Wire - Free Agents To Consider Adding
Auden Tate, Cincinnati Bengals - 20% owned
In the final -- or probably final, barring some injury-related changes -- game of the Andy Dalton era, Auden Tate was targeted 13 times, bringing in five of those for 65 yards. Now, Ryan Finley takes over as Bengals quarterback and A.J. Green could potentially return as soon as Sunday, so the math on Tate isn't as simple as "chase those targets," but he still appears to be the third receiver on this team and this team should be passing a ton moving forward.
Zach Pascal, Indianapolis Colts - 19% owned
With TY Hilton out, Pascal had five catches for 76 yards and a score, showing the potential that helped him to a six-catch, 106-yard, two-touchdown effort against the Texans in Week 7 and not the struggles that marked his one-catch, six-yard Week 8 game. Pascal should be in line to continue seeing an increased role in Week 10 with Hilton out again, especially against the Miami Dolphins. He can be a streaming flex option in Week 10.
A.J. Brown, Tennessee Titans - 19% owned
The Ryan Tannehill era seems to be helping A.J. Brown out. On Sunday, Brown caught four of his seven targets for 81 yards and continued to look like he's potentially moved above Corey Davis in the Titans pecking order. Brown was targeted two more times than Davis was this week and looks like the best wide receiver on this Titans team. With Tannehill's presence improving Tennessee's passing attack, Brown seems to be finally worthy of starting spots in fantasy leagues.
Preston Williams, Miami Dolphins - 14% owned
So, there's a caveat here, which is that Williams left with a knee injury late. By the time you read this column, Williams could very well be out for the year or something.
But for now, I'm just looking at his recent production, including Sunday's five catches for 72 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Williams has been targeted at least five times in every game this season and looks like he's the number-two option on this Dolphins team. If he's able to play in Week 10, he's an interesting option in deeper leagues.
Well, a torn ACL has Williams out for the year. Allen Hurns (0% owned) and Albert Wilson (1% owned) should see bigger roles. I love Wilson in theory, but I don't know if he'll have enough usage to be fantasy relevant.
Deebo Samuel, San Francisco 49ers - 12% owned
Samuel tied his season high in targets on Thursday, pulling in four of those seven targets for 40 yards. Not a hugely impressive day, but it was the first time since Week 3 that Samuel had gotten more than 19 receiving yards. A bad drop in the end zone marred Samuel's day, but he's looking like a deep league bench piece right now.
Parris Campbell, Indianapolis Colts - 3% owned
While Pascal looks like the main beneficiary of the TY Hilton injury, don't sleep on rookie Parris Campbell. Campbell caught all five of his targets on Sunday, finishing with 53 yards. He was second among the team's receivers in snap count in this one and the Colts seem intent on getting him the ball in a variety of ways. With the Dolphins coming up next for the Colts, there's reason to be excited about Campbell.
Adam Humphries, Tennessee Titans - 4% owned
Humphries is a solid wide receiver. He's not as solid as he was when he was a Buccaneer, but he still offers Ryan Tannehill a solid slot option. On Sunday, Humphries had four catches for 65 yards. Not a high volume guy or a high yardage guy or even really a high target guy, but in deeper PPR leagues you can usually count on him getting you eight or more points, which is better than nothing.
Hunter Renfrow, Oakland Raiders - 2% owned
Renfrow has now found the end zone in back-to-back weeks and caught six passes for 54 yards in Week 9. Renfrow led Oakland's receivers in targets on Sunday and appears to have the most solid role out of this receiving corps right now. Derek Carr is going to keep throwing to Renfrow, so get him onto your deep rosters.
Josh Reynolds, Los Angeles Rams - 1% owned
Easy argument here. Brandin Cooks (concussion) will be missing some time. The Rams have run 86 percent of their plays in three or four receiver sets. Reynolds will be on the field the majority of the time on a pass-heavy team. He was targeted eight times against the Bengals, a number that it wouldn't be surprising to see repeated against the Steelers in Week 10.
Russell Gage, Atlanta Falcons - 0% owned
Gage came out of nowhere to catch seven passes for 58 yards against the Seahawks. With Mohamed Sanu gone, Gage seems like he's sliding into Sanu's role, which should make him worth a roster spot in 14-team leagues immediately, with the potential to wind up playing an even larger role at some point.
