BALLER MOVE: Start in All Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB1
ANALYSIS: Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne Jr. has had an excellent 2023 season. The former Clemson star is the RB5, averaging 14.5 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. While he has put up massive fantasy production, Etienne has averaged only 3.6 yards per rushing attempt. Yet, the star running back has been elite at forcing missed tackles.
After starting the year on fire, the third-year running back has cooled off since the team’s Week 9 bye. Over the past seven weeks, Etienne has averaged 9.6 fantasy points per game, totaling eight or fewer in over half of the contests.
While the running back has struggled lately, he is a must-start in Week 17. The Jaguars face the Carolina Panthers and their awful run defense. They have surrendered 23.7 fantasy points per game to running backs, the fourth-most in the NFL. Carolina gave up over 140 rushing yards to the Green Bay Packers backfield last week.
The Jaguars will be without Trevor Lawrence for tomorrow’s game. Therefore, expect the team to lean on Etienne and the rushing attack. Fantasy players should consider the star running back a set-it-and-forget-it player for the championship matchup.
