ANALYSIS: Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Steven Souza has a 1.184 OPS over the last 14 days, including five home runs and 10 RBI, making him a strong fantasy option once again. The more advanced metrics show that he has substantially increased his walk rate while he has seen a modest reduction in the rate he strikes out. Souza has reached base at a .463 clip over the last 14 days and has a very strong .384 OBP this season. This all comes after he after started May at 6-for-56 and saw his batting average drop under .250. Souza is currently hitting .275 with 10 home runs and 33 runs batted in and has even stolen a base this week. He has seen his home runs rise from 16 in 2015 to 17 in 2016 and his power thus far in a homer-prone Tampa Bay lineup could see Souza top 25 home runs this season.

While Souza's cold streak had fantasy owners move away from Souza, his plate discipline was still there through the cold streak. Those that were patient are now reaping the rewards. The increase in walks with a drop in strikeouts shows that Souza is being selective in his choice of pitches to swing at, another reason to believe that his home run rate will sustain. It is wise to pick up Souza in all leagues, as his skill set looks like a OF3 in deeper mixed leagues.
