DFS Cheat Sheet

Injury notes: With Malcolm Brogdon and T.J. McConnell out, Aaron Holiday is a lock play on FanDuel, he is a GPP play on Draftkings with an elevated price.

With Kevin Love and Larry Nance Jr. both out, Kevin Porter Jr. is a viable min priced punt option.

Kyrie Irving is now OUT.  Big upgrades to Spencer Dinwiddie, Joe Harris and Garrett Temple.

Game of the Day

Portland Trailblazers at Houston Rockets

If you are a big fan of elite guard play, this will be your game as the Blazers and Rockets will square off in what should be a back and forth contest. Both teams enter this game in the top 11 in pace and bottom half of the league in defensive rating, two things we want for fantasy value.

Portland has been a bit of a disaster to start the year, which puts even more pressure on them to win this game tonight. Because of that, Damian Lillard could have one of his big nights in the scoring department. He has a team high 28.7% usage rate thus far this year and along with a 29.7% usage rate, gives him a big fantasy floor. Lillard also thrives in match-ups against other top flight point guards as he has posted 22.9 points and 7.3 assists per game against Westbrook.

After Lillard, the Blazers are full of interesting GPP plays.  C.J. McCollum has the second highest usage on the team and has a one on one match-up against James Harden, who generally has no interest in playing defense. The other guard to look at tonight is Anfernee Simons who has played 21.2 minutes per game and could take advantage of a Rockets team that gives up 12.9 three’s per game, 28th in the league.

In the front court, Hassan Whiteside always comes with massive upside, but also is a risk of checking out with no stats. He has over 40 fantasy points in five of his past seven, proving his upside, but he could also get in foul trouble against Harden who is the top player in the NBA in drawing fouls.  On the cheap side, until Carmelo Anthony joins the team, rookie Nassir Little has moved into the starting lineup and played 54 minutes the last two games. Per 36 minutes he does average almost 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks per game which at his price is solid.

On the Houston side, the first thing you will need to double check is the injury status of a few players. Clint Capela, Russell Westbrook and Danuel House Jr. all missed the last game, but should be healthy tonight.

As always, James Harden is the star of the show here and makes an elite play in all formats. He was highlighted in the cheat sheet if you are looking for more of a reason to play him. After Harden, if everyone is back, Capela makes the best per dollar play as prior to his concussion he had posted four straight games over 40 fantasy points. With Portland being 21st in rebounding rate, Capela should have a field day up front.

The remaining Houston players are all GPP plays due to their low usage rates. P.J. Tucker is second on the team at 35.2 minutes, but with an unbelievably low 9.2% usage rate, will need a ton of volume to hit value.  House, Ben McLemore and Austin Rivers all see more time with Eric Gordon out, but they will face a Portland team that is 12th in the league allowing just a 33.9% three-point rate.

This is not a game you can stack for cash games, but for GPP’s this could feature several players who get extra attempts, but are also inconsistent in their production.

Fade of the Day

Devonte’ Graham

It has been a special year for the second year guard who has turned into the top guard on the team. However, with a big bump in production has come a big bump in salary.  His price is a touch lower from last game, however it is still at an elevated number.

Now starting, Graham did manage 36 minutes last game, but the return of Nicolas Batum (29 minutes last game) and Dwayne Bacon also gives the Hornets more backcourt options if Graham has any issues. Along with that, Graham has a poor match-up against a Raptors team that is number one in the NBA allowing opponents to shot just 40.6% from the floor.

Not only do they have elite team defense, but players such as Fred Vanvleet and OG Anunoby are perfectly suited to slow down a smaller guard like Graham.  Tonight would be a good night to fade a player who is having a career season at this point.
