15 hours agoA fight between Bryan Battle and Ange Loosa lasted only six minutes after Battle accidentally poked Loosa in the eye. Battle appeared to be getting the better of Loosa before an unintentional eye poke brought the contest to a halt in the second round. Battle surged forward, and he continued to lead the dance as the duo started wrestling. He took Loosa down but Loosa managed to get up, only to be tagged by straight shots. At the beginning of the second round, Battle's thumb went into Loosa's eye, which led to the referee calling the doctor. Shortly after, Loosa said that he could see out of his eye, so the referee decided to stop the fight. In 6:01 of action, Battle landed a takedown and 27 significant strikes.--Alen Kurbasic - RotoBallerSource: UFC

15 hours agoAnge Loosa's fight against Bryan Battle was called off after an accidental eye poke resulted in Loosa being unable to continue. It was a dominant start from Battle, but his thumb poked Loosa in the eye in the second round, which forced the referee to pause the action, and eventually, stop the fight. In 6:01 of action, Loosa landed 23 significant strikes. It's not uncommon practice for the UFC run-back fights that end in controversial fouls, though the promotion has not indicated that will be the case with Battle and Loosa.--Alen Kurbasic - RotoBallerSource: UFC

15 hours agoOvince Saint Preux bounced back from a loss in his last outing to earn a split-decision victory over Kennedy Nzechukwu in a slugfest at UFC Vegas 88. The veteran light heavyweight competitor, who was a five-to-one underdog, demonstrated resilience and tactical prowess against his favored opponent, ultimately getting his hand raised in the end. Saint Preux also scored the only knockdown in the fight. In 15 minutes of action, Saint Preux landed 143 significant strikes. It was a performance for the record books with Saint Preux, now the current record holder for most fights in the history of the UFC Light Heavyweight division.--Alen Kurbasic - RotoBallerSource: UFC

15 hours agoKennedy Nzechukwu suffered a split decision loss to Ovince Saint Preux on the main card of UFC Vegas 88 on Saturday. For the most of the fight, and especially in the third round Nzechukwu and Saint Preux stood in the pocket and went blow-for-blow. Nzechukwu pushed for a finish in the third round but Saint Preux's accumulated strikes clinched the win. In 15 minutes of action, Nzechukwu landed 106 significant strikes. Though Saint Preux is a long-time veteran of the division, Nzechukwu was widely expected to pick up a knockout win in what seemed to be a tune-up matchup on paper. The loss knocks Nzechukwu down to 6-5 in the UFC.--Alen Kurbasic - RotoBallerSource: UFC

15 hours agoGerald Meerschaert returned to winning ways when he faced Bryan Barberena at UFC Vegas 88. Meerschaert's victory over Bryan Barbarena not only secured his 28th career submission but also tied him with Anderson 'the Spider' Silva for the most finishes in UFC middleweight history. With the victory, Gerald Meerschaert improved to 36-17 as a pro.--Alen Kurbasic - RotoBallerSource: UFC

15 hours agoBryan Barberena suffered a second-round submission loss to Gerald Meerschaert at UFC Vegas 88 on Saturday. This was a classic matchup between a striker and a grappler where Barbarena showcased resilience but ultimately succumbed to Meerschaert's grappling prowess and submission skills. In 9:23 of action, Barbarena landed 12 significant strikes. With this loss, Barberena dropped to 18-12. This is his fourth loss in a row.--Alen Kurbasic - RotoBallerSource: UFC

2 days agoPannie Kianzad suffered a first-round submission loss to Macy Chiasson on the main card of UFC Vegas 88. It served as a rematch of their 2018 fight which Chiasson also won by submission. Kianzad was taken down early by Chiasson, and the Swede gave up her back. Once Chiasson was on her back, she sunk in a rear-naked choke and forced Kianzad to tap. With the loss, Kianzad is now on a two-fight losing skid and is 5-5 in the UFC.--Cole SheltonSource: UFC

Chiasson was fighting for the first time since September 2022 when she suffered a TKO loss to Irene Aldana. Chiasson started the fight well and got Kianzad down. Once she got Kianzad down, Chiasson was able to get ahold of her back and get a first-round rear-naked choke submission win. With the win, Chiasson improved to 7-3 in the UFC and could be a couple of fights away from a title shot.--Cole SheltonSource: UFC

2 days agoIsaac Dulgarian dropped a controversial split decision loss to Christian Rodriguez on the main card of UFC Vegas 88. Dulgarian had over 4:48 of control time in the opening round to get a 10-8 round. In the second round, he had over four minutes of control but didn't do much damage, as Rodriguez did land the bigger shots. In the third round, Dulgarian was gassed as Rodriguez dominated the round to edge out a controversial split decision. With the loss, Dulgarian fell to 6-1 as a pro and 1-1 in the UFC.--Cole SheltonSource: UFC

Rodriguez was then controlled for over four minutes in the second round but did land the more damaging shots. In the final round, Rodriguez dominated it and earned a 10-8 to edge out the split decision. With the win, Rodriguez is now 11-1 as a pro and 4-1 in the UFC.--Cole SheltonSource: UFC

2 days agoTai Tuivasa suffered a first-round submission los to Marcin Tybura in the main event of UFC Vegas 88 on Saturday. Tuivasa entered the fight as the small betting favorite and early on had success as he landed some good strikes, including some elbows that cut Tybura. However, Tuivasa was taken down and absorbed some heavy shots before giving up his back. Tybura then sunk in a rear-naked choke which put Tuivasa out. With the loss, Tuivasa fell to 15-7 as a pro and has been finished in four straight fights. --Cole SheltonSource: UFC

Tybura started out slow as Tuivasa hit him with some good shots and cut him open with an elbow. However, the Pole was able to get Tuivasa down. Once the ground, he landed heavy ground-and-pound and eventually got ahold of his back and sunk in a rear-naked choke as he forced the Aussie to tap. With the win, Tybura is now 12-7 in the UFC and could get a top-10 opponent next.--Cole SheltonSource: UFC

4 days agoTwo action-packed UFC veterans clash in the main card opener of UFC Vegas 88 as Gerald Meerschaert and Bryan Barberena meet in the Octagon. 4 days agoBryan Barberena may be in dire need of a victory more than anyone else on Saturday's card when he faces off against Gerald Meerschaert. Barberena (18-11) will be competing at middleweight for the second straight fight after fighting for most of his career at welterweight. He's on a three-fight losing streak that includes two submission losses and a decision loss to Makhmud Muradov at UFC London. DraftKings sees Barbarena as the underdog with a salary of $7,100. Throughout his UFC career (18 bouts), he averages 67.8 fantasy points per contest.--Alen Kurbasic - RotoBallerSource: UFC

4 days agoKennedy Nzechukwu (12-4) is set to take on a former title challenger Ovince Saint Preux in a light-heavyweight bout on Saturday at the UFC Apex. Nzechukwu will look to bounce back from a first-round technical knockout loss against Dustin Jacoby in August 2023. He also saw a three-fight win streak snapped by his loss to Dustin Jacoby. DraftKings sees Nzechukwu as the favorite with a salary of $9,400. He averages 59.1 fantasy points per contest throughout 10 UFC bouts. It's most likely that these two will trade power shots until someone falls.--Alen Kurbasic - RotoBallerSource: UFC
