5 months agoNew York Mets starter Zack Wheeler took a step back Tuesday afternoon as he was shelled in the Bronx by the Yankees. The 29-year-old allowed nine runs on 10 hits in 4 2/3 innings of work. While he struck out six, he allowed two home runs and couldn't hold a three-run lead provided by his offense in the early stages of the game. The nine runs allowed (five earned), are the most he's allowed this season and the loss snapped a four-game winning streak. Wheeler's record now falls to 5-4, while his ERA now stands at 4.87 on the year.--Ricky Delgado - RotoBaller
