Zack Godley Should See Breakout Continue
7 years agoZack Godley performed well in his first season as a full-time starter. As a 27 year old, he surprisingly distinguished himself from the crowd and drastically increased his value. It was his first time pitching over 100 innings in a major league season and he did quite well. He had a 3.37 earned run average and an equally supportive 3.41 fielding independent pitching demonstrating the performance should continue. Godley had a 60.8 first pitch strike percentage, which helped him achieve his stellar 26.2 strikeout percentage. Godley has an elite ground-ball rate (55.3%) and it compensated for his home park, which used to be hitter-friendly. In 155 innings with 25 starts, Godley averaged 6 innings per start; in quality-start leagues, he is a valuable asset to have. Godley’s sudden appearance with premium performance will potentially increase his value higher, reducing the possibility of getting him at a decent value. However, all signs indicate his 2017 season is repeatable, even better now that the humidor will actually be used this year at Chase Field. Currently, he will be drafted near the 10th round. If you can acquire him at any amount of a discount in dynasty leagues, do it.
