Zach Ertz 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook: Veteran Working To Fend Off Rookie Challenger
6 months agoWashington Commanders veteran tight end Zach Ertz will need to earn his snaps to be fantasy-relevant. Ertz signed with Washington during free agency after tallying 27 receptions for 187 yards and a score across seven games in 2023. The Commanders also drafted rookie Ben Sinnott in the second round. Rookie tight ends can struggle out of the gate, but some recent examples (like Sam LaPorta and Dalton Kincaid) have raised expectations going into this season. Expect Ertz to hold off the rookie for part of the early season while anticipating that Sinnott will ramp up with experience. The veteran should also have a leg up thanks to reuniting with Kliff Kingsbury, his former coach at Arizona. Ertz is hoping that teaming up with his old coach and Jayden Daniels will lead to a late-career resurgence. At best, Ertz looks to be a streaming tight end; at worst, he may get replaced as the starter during the season. He’s off most fantasy radars with a half-PPR ADP of TE35 and a RotoBaller rank of TE40.
