Wei-Yin Chen Looks To Regain His Old Form In 2018
7 years agoThe Miami Marlins had lofty expectations for starting pitcher Wei-Yin Chen when they brought him in from Baltimore in 2016. In three of his first four big-league seasons, the southpaw from Taiwan finished with double-digit wins. Since coming to Miami, however, Chen has been an absolute disaster. Plagued by both injuries and inconsistency, Chen is just 7-6 in his last two seasons, including a wasted 2017 where he finished with only nine starts. The Fish are hopeful that he'll soon regain the form that notched him 46 wins during his first four seasons, though it's hard to see that happening. All hope is not lost, however. In those nine starts last year, Chen had an incredible 1.03 WHIP, something the Marlins can be hopeful for. It's difficult to trust Chen at this point, so set your expectations for 'pleasantly surprised' if he's on your fantasy team this season.
