Tyler Naquin Looks to Return to His Rookie Form in 2018
7 years agoCleveland Indians outfielder Tyler Naquin had a strong rookie campaign in 2016 before taking a huge step back and struggling through 2017. He'll hope to have more of a 2016-type year this coming season. Naquin only played in 19 games at the major league level in 2017, slashing a poor .216/.250/.270 with no home runs and only one RBI. In his rookie year of 2016, however, he slashed .296/.372/.514 with 14 home runs and 43 RBI. The Indians outfield is a bit crowded with no clear playing time for Naquin, so his best hope for now is to start the year on the bench and wait to see if anyone gets injured. Even then, Abraham Almonte and Greg Allen could be options in the outfield as well. Naquin's strong rookie season (despite a bloated BABIP) showed what he is capable of, so dynasty and keeper league owners should hold on, but he likely won't need to be drafted in most redraft leagues this season.
