Trae Young 2018-19 Player Outlook
6 years agoAtlanta Hawks rookie point guard Trae Young enters the season looking to make a splash as he did his single year at Oklahoma University. Young was masterful as a freshman, leading all of the NCAA in both points (27.4) and assists (8.8) per game. Young saw most of his game translated in this year’s summer league tournament, posting averages of 17.0 points, 6.8 assists and 1.5 steals per game. However, it appears Young’s already subpar field-goal percentage will take an even bigger hit. Compared to shooting 42.2 percent from the field in college, Young shot just 38.0 percent in the summer league. Although Young will have some competition from Jeremy Lin this season, he will have the green light to shoot all year with the Hawks focusing on development of their young guns. Young will be a good source of points, threes, assists and steals this season as long as your team can stomach the low field-goal percentage and high turnover rate.
