Touki Toussaint 2019 Outlook: One of the More Intriguing Rookie Pitchers
6 years agoAtlanta Braves pitching prospect Touki Toussaint made seven Major League appearances in 2018 -- five as a starter and two in relief -- posting a 4.03 ERA, a 3.78 FIP and a 1.34 WHIP with 32 strikeouts in 29 innings pitched. As evidenced by his 21 walks, the 22-year-old needs to work on his command issues, particularly with his splitter, which has the potential to be a really effective third pitch. Still, his fastball-curveball combination is one of the best in the minors -- he posted a 2.38 ERA with 163 K in 136.1 IP last year -- and he flashed brilliance in his brief stay in the bigs. Toussaint is currently being drafted as the 119th-ranked SP -- which means he’s not really being considered in standard leagues -- but he has the potential to become a productive, top-60 fantasy pitcher in all formats, especially if he earns a rotation spot out of Spring Training.
