3/15:If playing time weren’t an issue for Steve Pearce, he would be a solid sleeper candidate in 2017. Unfortunately, playing time is indeed likely to be an issue with Justin Smoak at first base and both Kendrys Morales and Russell Martin splitting time at designated hitter for the Blue Jays. Perhaps Pearce can play his way into a larger role, however, as he’s off to a great start this spring. He’s hitting .313 with a .368 on-base percentage and .806 OPS with two runs batted in along the way. Pearce has always been an intriguing, cheap name in fantasy circles, and that will likely be the case again if he ends up in a near-everyday role in Toronto.--Andrew Bua - RotoBaller
