10/19:Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports that Shawn Kelley, who was at one point the Nationals closer, received stem-cell injections in his elbow and expects to be healthy in time for the 2018 season. Kelley had bone chips that finally sidelined him in September. Surgery was an option but Kelley avoided it, using the increasingly common injection route instead. In 26 innings in 2017, Kelley did manage to strike out 25 batters. But he also gave up 29 hits, and 12 of them were homers. With both Sean Doolittle and Ryan Madson locked up for next year, the best Kelley can hope for a middle-relief role going forward.--Mario Hernandez - RotoBaller
