Seth Lugo Hoping For 2018 Rebound
7 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Seth Lugo had a fantastic rookie season in 2016, but things in 2017 didn’t quite go his way. After finishing with a 2.67 ERA and 1.09 WHIP as a rookie, those numbers climbed to 4.71 and 1.37, respectively, as a sophomore. Of course, injuries may have played a role in that – a partial UCL tear to start the season, combined with right shoulder impingement in August, may do that to a guy. The problem is, the UCL tear is still there, so fantasy owners have to hope that was not a reason for his struggles. Much like several other Mets, Lugo’s 2018 role remains unclear. As of now it would seem Lugo will once again battle starting pitcher Robert Gsellman for the fifth spot in the Amazin’s rotation, but the team may very well have their minds set on Lugo in the bullpen. Lugo wont’ be worth any draft pick capital until we know what his role is, and even then, he has to show us he’s ready to rebound from 2017’s issues.
