Serge Ibaka 2018-19 Player Outlook
6 years agoToronto Raptors power forward/center Serge Ibaka is not the fantasy stud he was just a few seasons ago when he was a top-20 player as he combined his unique blend of elite shot blocking and 3-point shooting. Ibaka still provides that value, just not at the level he once did. It's hard to believe that Ibaka put up 3.7 blocks a night in 2011-12 and has seen his average dwindle down to a still solid 1.3 a game last year. If this trend continues and after a very disappointing postseason for the big man, we could see Ibaka having a hard time staying in the top-100 this year. Then there is the other, less-likely side, Ibaka turns things around for the better and his confidence returns. This is highly unlikely as we will see OG Onunoby see some minutes at the four spot and with Jonas Valanciunas much-improved perimeter shooting and defense, we could see Ibaka fall out of the rotation some nights. Overall, he is a bit of gamble coming into this season, so tread lightly here.
