Seattle Seahawks 2019 Player Outlook: Legion of Boom No More
6 years agoLet’s get one thing straight: This Seattle Seahawks defense is not the fantasy monster it was when they were Super Bowl contenders and had a Hall of Fame secondary in the Legion of Boom, led by Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor. However, there is still a lot of talent on this defense, led by linebackers Bobby Wagner and K.J Wright, along with safety Bradley McDougald, defensive tackles Jarran Reed and Poona Ford and new defensive end Ziggy Ansah. While the defense has some pieces, the overall product is likely going to be inconsistent from a fantasy perspective, especially since their cornerback position is weak. They don’t have a lot of ball-hawks in the secondary, making interceptions hard to come by, and the pass rush took a big hit with Frank Clark’s departure. As such, this is a defense that probably won’t pick up a ton of sacks or interceptions, which obviously crushes their fantasy value. Don’t buy the Seahawks defense because of their brand, as they aren’t the same product anymore. They are best utilized as a streaming defense when they face Arizona or San Francisco, instead of as an every week starter.
