Sam Bradford Looks To Rebound In Desert
6 years ago2017 was another lost season for Sam Bradford, who has been bitten by the injury bug often going back to a broken collar bone his final season at Oklahoma. Now in Arizona as a place holder for Josh Rosen, Bradford will have a great running back in David Johnson as well as an aging but still great possession receiver in Larry Fitzgerald to work with. While Bradford was the most accurate single-season quarterback in NFL history after the 2016 season, and Fitzgerald is the surest handed receiver since Jerry Rice, this combination will only be solid as long as Bradford remains the starter. With the above-mentioned David Johnson coming back from a wrist injury, Bradford will also have arguably the nest running back in the league to go along with the future Hall of Famer Fitzgerald.
While the weapons are there in Fitzgerald and Johnson, the offensive line was bad last season and has not gotten any better to start 2018. The defense has lost key players over the past few off seasons and Patrick Peterson, while still elite, is getting older and cannot do everything himself for the defense. These concerns as well as the health concerns are the reasons to take a look at other players instead of Bradford.
Although hoping not to use Rosen this season, the Cardinals will need to turn to the rookie before the end of the season whether due to injury or to see what they have in the touted rookie when the season goes south. This there for makes the drafting of Sam Bradford a no-go in 2018. If you draft a quarterback with an early bye week, such as Cam Newton, Bradford could be a fill-in for one week, but to expect anything more from him is unreasonable.
