Russell Wilson 2023 Player Outlook: Looking To Bounce Back After Career-Worst Season
2 years agoAfter 10 spectacular seasons with the Seattle Seahawks in which he made nine Pro Bowls, quarterback Russell Wilson entered his first season with the Denver Broncos in 2022 with sky-high expectations. Wilson ended up failing miserably, posting a career-worst 60.5 completion percentage with 3,524 yards, 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 15 starts. He was also sacked a career-high 55 times. The 34-year-old just never looked comfortable in head coach Nathaniel Hackett's offense, and although he attempted plenty of deep throws, he wasn't very efficient at all. A better offensive line on paper should help Wilson in 2023, as should new head coach and offensive guru Sean Payton. However, Wilson must be much better in the red zone while making better decisions overall. The former third-rounder looked more like a QB at the end of his career than a savior for the Broncos in 2022, but he still has enough weapons around him to bounce back in his second year in Denver. Fantasy managers won't be reckless enough to consider Wilson as a QB1 this year, but he could end up being a decent backup after finishing as the QB15 last season.
