10 months agoLos Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Ross Stripling returned to the mound on Thursday after missing his previous start with a toe injury. The 28-year-old lefty pitched a solid, if not overly exciting, six innings of ball, giving up four hits and one run. He struck out two batters, but also walked a pair in his first quality start in roughly a month. He didn't pick up the win though, since the Dodgers bullpen coughed up the lead in the 7th inning. Stripling has been a pleasant surprise this season, and now owns a 2.62 ERA, 1.127 WHIP, and a 9.9 K/9 rate this season over 17 starts and 28 total appearances on the mound. One word of warning for Stripling owners though: he's already surpassed his career high of 100 innings pitched, and it's entirely possible the team will have him finish the season out of the bullpen if Hyun-Jin Ryu returns to the rotation when healthy (which should happen next week, assuming his final rehab start goes off without a hitch).--Devon Taylor - RotoBaller
