Robert Gsellman Likely To Serve As Reliever And Starter
7 years agoWhile New York Mets pitcher Robert Gsellman’s 2018 role is unclear at the moment, it seems safe to say he’ll operate out of the bullpen and make some starts here and there. If healthy, the Mets rotation is full – but that’s a big if, and not one that has held up in recent years. Gsellman is coming off a very disappointing 2017 sophomore season that saw him pitch to a bad 5.19 ERA and 1.50 WHIP while striking out only 6.17 batters per nine innings; those figures were 2.42, 1.28, and 8.46, respectively, during his rookie season of 2016. Gsellman isn’t going to be worth any fantasy consideration out of the gate, especially if his primary role is out of the bullpen as expected, but we’ve seen the potential in him before to be a fantasy relevant starting pitcher.
