Rob Gronkowski 2021 Outlook: Looking To Build On His 2020 Campaign
4 years agoTampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski came back from a long layoff to produce seven TE1 weeks which allowed him to finish the season as the TE7. He owned a 23 percent target share while seeing a 10.8 average depth of target. His injury history was a concern going into last season, but luckily we got a 16-game season out of him. Even with Gronkowski playing in an offense that had tremendous pass-catchers like Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Antonio Brown, he still managed to carve out a large enough workload in the offense. His 2021 outlook should be mirrored with what we saw from him last year. He will be used enough in the passing game to make him competitive with his peers at the tight end position. The peaks and valleys will be extreme. Since he's sharing the offense with a very talented wide receiver corps, there will be games where his production will drop off the table. His bond with Tom Brady will allow him to hit his ceiling multiple times throughout the year, but consistency is going to be an issue. Gronk is a solid late-round selection as a back-end TE1.
