7/17:The Boston Red Sox are scouting Oakland A’s second baseman Jed Lowrie. The Red Sox would be interested in obtaining Lowrie and having him fill their gaping hole at third base, a position Lowrie has played extensively in his career, although not since 2015 with the Astros. Lowrie is hitting very well for the A’s this season, slashing .272/.339/.455 with 10 home runs, 33 RBI and 52 runs scored. Lowrie’s fantasy value would increase in Boston, assuming he had an everyday role at 3B. He would be hitting much lower in the order (likely 8 or 9) but would be playing with a better offense and in a much smaller park, likely leading to more home run and RBI opportunities. Lowrie is likely to be traded regardless, but a move to Boston is one of the few scenarios where Lowrie’s fantasy value does not take a hit.--Andy P - RotoBaller
